Sugar cookie mix from The Complete Autumn and Winter Cookbook: 550+ Recipes for Warming Dinners, Holiday Roasts, Seasonal Desserts, Breads, Food Gifts, and More (page 402) by America's Test Kitchen

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Notes about this recipe

I somehow ended up with about 1.5 cup more mix than described (an extra 1 dozen cookies). Easy enough to make. It is a minor time saving over normal sugar cookies, but it could make cheap gifts if portioned out into small recycled glass jars. The type of person to whom I might give this tends not to have egg or butter on hand, though. I wish I could make an all in one mix that was shelf stable. Also worth noting I'd call them vanilla butter cookies rather than sugar (because to me sugar cookies are coated in granulated sugar). Having baked these, they're not very sweet, so probably best to pair jars of it with decor icing and sprinkles.
