    Can substitute molasses for black treacle.

    I don't own Feast, but I made this from Nigella's website using the US measurements. I did have black treacle so used that instead of molasses, but used light corn syrup instead of Lyle's golden syrup. I used dark chocolate chips, black cocoa powder from King Arthur, and I didn't make the icing because I didn't have ginger ale. I loved this recipe. It's dark dark dark, and tastes like spiced dark chocolate. Love the density of the chocolate chips. Curious to try with the icing. At first I thought frosting would be overkill, but the cake itself is not overly sweet.
