    This recipe is a variation of the southern dish of beans stewed in a tomato sauce. I wasn’t convinced that it would work with asparagus but it was actually very tasty. I used center cut bacon instead of applewood bacon which meant I didn’t have enough bacon grease to cook the asparagus so used olive oil instead. At least that made it healthier. I also opted not to blend the sauce.
