    This wasn't really chocolate ice cream, it was cocoa powder ice cream. The flavor is much more of cocoa powder than of chocolate, which makes sense given there's only a small amount of chocolate in it.

    Very, very delicious. This time I used orange-flavored chocolate (72% cacao), added the zest of one orange to the chocolate syrup before setting it aside, and three T grand marnier to the chilled base right before pouring it into the frozen canister (reduced sugar in the syrup by 1 T). This was fabulous, but as bwhip points out, it could be darker. Next time I'd use somewhere around 85% cacao, all espresso for the coffee, and reduce the grand marnier to 2 T.

    Excellent ice cream. Super chocolatey and creamy, and the addition of coffee really enhanced the flavor even more. Darkest in the world? Not really that dark, but awesome chocolate ice cream nonetheless.

    We loved this recipe - I added some additional chopped dark chocolate pieces about 2/3 of the way through freezing. It is dangerous to have in the freezer calling your name and did not last long in our home. Delicious.
