Can substitute red bell peppers for green bell peppers, and French bread or Italian bread for white sandwich bread.

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

The technique works great. I did add about 1/3 cup Sherry to the recipe. When I had amazing Gazpacho in Sevilla, the proprietor emphasized very ripe tomatoes, high quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Spanish of course) and quality Sherry. With that addition, very similar to what I had and loved in Sevilla. There it was served in a pitcher, with small juice glasses to sip it from as a cooling appetizer; and there was a cruet of EVOO on the table to drizzle on top.
