We love these beans, but I don't cook them on the stove top. I've been cooking them in a small crock-pot overnight on low. They come out beautifully, soft and tender and ever so slightly caramelized but not dry. My new stove has an ultra-low setting, much lower than the old one so perhaps they would work on the stove-top. Perhaps someday when I am puttering about the kitchen doing other things.

Reading this book as just a cookbook is like watching a football game to check out the uniforms - you'd miss the whole point! This book chronicles a love story through the lens of food.
