  • Macadamia nut "ricotta"

    • peaceoutdesign on December 26, 2020

I really like this but am not sure of a use for it. The Devils on Horseback recipe that it is from is not a favorite.

  • Devils on horseback

    • peaceoutdesign on December 26, 2020

pg. 76This was only okay. Two recipes that are much better are sausage and bacon-wrapped dates and rumaki.

  • Garlic mashed cauliflower

    • julesamomof2 on October 24, 2019

Super easy, super delicious. Excellent alternative to mashed potatoes.

  • Spicy tuna cakes

    • Emmsy4 on February 10, 2017

This are great eaten hot or cold. Lovely with hot sauce drizzled on top

A very unique recipe that works! These little cakes pack a lot of flavor. Great for lunch meal-prepping.

    • Laura on January 09, 2016

I thought these were pretty good -- definitely a lifesaver if you bake them ahead and reheat as needed.

  • Polpette di vitello

  • Slow cooker kalua pig

    • Emmsy4 on February 10, 2017

I make this in my electric pressure cooker adding in a slosh of liquid smoke. So delicious - especially in brioche buns with barbecue sauce, mayo and salad

Reviews about this book

  • Serious Eats

Tam's directions are clear and concise... Many of the recipes don't contain any diet-based substitutions, and the number of vegetable-based dishes certainly surprised me.

  • Bone broth

    • Serious Eats

I've got a low-tech kitchen, so I simmered my bone broth on the stovetop for a long 24 hours. But I didn't mind the long wait, since the broth scented my apartment with a wonderful savory aroma.

  • Macadamia nut "ricotta"

    • Serious Eats

As promised, this "cheese" came together lickety-split with a surprisingly creamy texture. It doesn't taste like ricotta, but it definitely tastes good.

  • Southwest cowboy chili

    • Serious Eats

This chili was super easy to put together, and the oven's gentle heat turned the chuck roast spoon-tender. I wouldn't skip the toppings on this chili. Not only do they add a needed burst of color...

  • Eggplant "ricotta" stacks

    • Serious Eats

It look much longer to broil the eggplant than advertised. If the eggplant burns before cooking through, you can stick it in a warm oven to finish cooking.

  • Asian cauliflower fried "rice"

    • Serious Eats

I was surprised to find out that I actually really liked this dish. While the final dish had a texture more like couscous than fried rice, the flavors were totally balanced and ultimately satisfying.
