  • Baked snug eggs

Lovely flavor and presentation but easy to make. The entire family loved their personal au gratin dish with the ham, potatoes, and eggs. Be sure to cook the potatoes thoroughly in the frying pan before adding them to the gratin dishes. Our potatoes turned out just barely done. I think the combination of cold ham below and cold eggs on top makes it so that the potatoes do not cook as much as you think they would in the oven. I also had to leave the gratins in the oven for 5 minutes longer than the recipe called for to make sure the egg whites were fully set. Next time I may let the eggs come to room temperature before adding them rather than just taking cold eggs from the fridge and plopping them on top. All in all this was a fun dish for a complete breakfast and one I will definitely use for times when I have house guests.

  • Cauliflower-curry soup

Somebody polished off the celery last night, so had to do without. Used "Now Curry" from Penzey's. Tasty soup, but wish it was a bit thicker. Will be adding wild rice tomorrow to bulk it up a bit. I will likely make it again, but with either rice or maybe white beans.

  • Mac and cheese

Lauren made this for Willie and me on 6-23-2014. She added fine breadcrumbs and zucchini ribbons. It was delicious!!

  • Trout with creamy dill sauce

    • Pizzacat13 on October 23, 2021

This is delicious. Followed the recipe pretty much exactly and it turns out great every time. I usually pan fry the trout in a blend of butter and grapeseed oil. This would also be great with Salmon. Recommend serving with baby creamer potatoes which are perfect with the creamy dill sauce. Yum.

  • World's best cake (Verdens beste)

    • Astrid5555 on June 05, 2016

This was good, but definitely not the world's best cake. Husband and boys loved it though. For me, the sponge part of the cake was too dense, I would have prefered something lighter such as a Swiss Roll sponge. However, quick and easy to make, and as such perfect for an impromptu dessert during strawberry season.

Publishers Text

It began as a little blog highlighting the recipes and crafts of the Norwegian-born food and prop stylist Paul Lowe. Six years later, Sweet Paul is an online magazine followed by millions and a print quarterly sold nationwide in specialty stores. Praised by the New York Times as “ a trove of seasonal delights,” it is turning heads with its easy, elegant food and style-setting aesthetic. Divided into Morning, Brunch, Noon, and Night, with color palettes to match, Sweet Paul Eat and Make includes breakfast dishes like Morning Biscuits with Cheddar, Dill, and Pumpkin Seeds and brunches like Smoked Salmon Hash with Scallions, Dill, and Eggs. For lunch, there’s a super-quick Risotto with Asparagus, and for dinner, Maple-Roasted Chicken and a stunning Norwegian specialty, World’s Best Cake. Rustically chic craft projects—paper flowers made out of coffee filters, a vegetable-dyed tablecloth, and a trivet from wooden clothespins—will captivate even those who are all thumbs.
