Publishers Text

The Aztec Indians in South America were the first known chocolate drinkers in the world, and it was here that a Spanish Explorer in 1519 found their Emperor, Montezuma, drinking a pungent mixture called "chocolatl" out of gold cups. It is said that the Explorer rationed himself to a mere 50 cups per day! One can only imagine that he was using it as a stimulant, bearing in mind that the cocoa beans have similar properties to caffeine. Despite or because of these origins, chocolate rapidly developed its used until it became what is probably the most popular sweet flavor in the Western world. Indeed, it is in its great vesatility that chocolate finds such favor with the cook, whether as a warming drink on a cold winter's day, a luscious chocolate cake or dessert or as ice cream. Some truly wonderful masterpieces can be created without great skill and all will be acclaimed with great enthusiasm, simply because they are made with Chocolate. This book contains valuable information for the Experience or Novice Cook about Types of Chocolate, Using Chocolate as well as Wonderful recipes for Cakes, Puddings , souffles and drinks.
