Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chocolate-orange challah with saffron

    • chawkins on May 26, 2016

The orange flavor came through and paired well with the chocolate. The saffron flavor, however, could not be detected even though I used a generous pinch, so I''ll skip that next time. I used the minimum amount of flour specified, and the dough was a bit dry, not enough hydration. As a result, braiding was somewhat difficult in the end, when you tried to tuck the ends in and they did not stick together too well.

  • The best black & white cookies

    • hillsboroks on June 07, 2017

These are a lovely rich chocolate shortbread cookie with a bit of white chocolate on top. The recipe was easy to put together and I chilled the dough logs for about 3 hours. The 11 minutes baking time was spot on. Don't skimp on ingredients for these cookies. I used Scharffen Berger Cocoa and Lindt white chocolate bars here and the results were great.
