  • The Sprinkles red velvet cupcake

    • anya_sf on June 22, 2017

I made 1/2 recipe = 6 cupcakes. I thought I followed the directions exactly, but maybe I overbaked them a little, because they were kind of dry. Otherwise the flavor was good. The frosting was very good - there was a lot. Overall, though, I thought these were good, but not great.

  • Flourless chocolate cupcakes

The flavor of this batter is outstanding. I used KA's Triple Cocoa powder. These cupcakes are rich-tasting, with texture similar to a brownie. The top edges are a bit crispy and great for nibbling. I did not make the creme fraiche topping; just wanted something easy, chocolate and flourless. I checked this book out of the library. Unrelated note: I've been an EYB subscriber and "lurker" for years. Thought it was about time I submitted a review. Thank you to those of you who have been posting for years!

  • Copper pot fudge

So easy! So good! Definitely use a chocolate you love to eat! I’ve made many times with a variety of different chocolates and it always comes out perfect.

The New Great American Baking Book from the chef and creator of Sprinkles Bakery and judge of Cupcake Wars

When chef and owner Candace Nelson opened America's first cupcake-only bakery in 2005, people thought she was crazy. "What else do you sell," they'd ask. But on opening day they sold out, and have pretty much every day since. Today, Candace has expanded to seventeen locations and isn't planning on slowing down.
In this book, she hopes to share the recipes and stories that have been a part of her life and her customers' lives. But it is more than just a cupcake cookbook: Candace will share 50 Sprinkles cupcake recipes in all their variations, from true classics to new flavors created exclusively for the book. There will also be 50 of Candace's all-time favorite desserts with recipes for cakes, pies, quick breads, cookies, bars, and other all-American classics reflecting the chic, understated elegance that has become a Sprinkles signature.
