Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Applesauce

    • skvalentine on October 17, 2023

Decent, very easy recipe. I added some pieces of ginger for extra flavor. Will use this crockpot method again.

  • Fall-in-love banana bread

    • crandall57 on November 11, 2022

The bread is extremely moist. I emailed Laurel and she replied that they like the bread very moist. She suggested using 1/4 cup coconut oil and 1/3 cup maple syrup. Also, make sure to measure 2 cups of mashed banana and not go by the number of bananas noted in the ingredients. She recommends using room temperature eggs and she mixes the bread by hand with a whisk. This recipe can also make 12 muffins or one 12 x 7 pan. I may try it again using her suggestions, as the flavor was really good.

  • Sesame crackers

    • Astrid5555 on January 03, 2019

Delicious and very quick to make.

  • Double dark chocolate cookies

    • crandall57 on January 22, 2026

Great cookies! They taste better when served warm.

  • Classic snickerdoodles

    • skvalentine on January 13, 2023

These are very good! Next time I might use coconut sugar for the topping. The date sugar I have has very hard, large chunks, which were much too hard after baking (like chewing on tiny gravel). Otherwise, my family enjoyed these and we will be making again.

  • Swedish almond caramel cake

    • crandall57 on May 10, 2023

A very moist and delicious treat. David especially enjoyed it. Will make this one again.

  • Strawberry shortcake cupcakes

    • crandall57 on March 30, 2023

We really enjoyed these shortcakes; they were really delicious. We made the double layer version. I added extra strawberries to the sauce, I found it too sweet as written. Maybe I'll use less honey next time.

  • Probiotic cream cheese frosting

    • crandall57 on April 10, 2023

Drained the cashews well and patted dry, definitely thicker frosting, but would prefer it even a bit thicker. Maybe just use the cream from the top of the coconut milk.

The book is beautiful, and the recipes are simple — you'll be surprised that grain-free, refined-sugar-free baking can be as simple as almond flour, maple syrup, and the right recipe.
