Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Croque ma-soeur

    • sdutton on November 03, 2018

I chose this recipe because I happened to have all of the ingredients on hand and this version included sauerkraut. My husband and I are proud of our first batch of homemade sauerkraut and so I am actively looking for different ways to use it as we have 4 more batches fermenting. We loved these sandwiches and the accompanying Russian Dressing recipe as well. I love that these are just simply baked in the oven without the need to pre-toast the bread or finish under the broiler as in other recipes. They were perfect and we will be making these often.

  • Grilled cheese and tomato with kale pesto

    • bwhip on December 08, 2018

The photo really looked delicious, so we just had to try these. They turned out great! The cheese didn’t melt all that well due to fairly thick bread grilling the, in the pan, but worked perfectly in our panini press. The kale pesto was really a nice addition, though the recipe made at least double the quantity needed. Went great with some homemade tomato soup (Anthony Bourdain’s recipe).

  • Sweet potato cheesecake

    • meggan on April 13, 2020

We subbed pecans for walnuts and canned pumpkin for sweet potato. We also had to use more yogurt and less cream cheese than called for making for a very light and fluffy cheesecake.
