Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Choose-your-own pumpkin spice bread

    • Emily Hope on November 15, 2019

We liked this quite a bit--very moist (verging on but not quite reaching greasy), and the flavor profile of the actually spicy pumpkin spice was great. Super easy to put together. However, we didn't finish the loaf, so that also says something... maybe too one-note?

  • Banana bread

    • Astrid5555 on November 24, 2019

While this is a nice banana bread, this is not a special banana bread. However, I liked the way the author has you add the whole bananas to the batter and let them break up in the stand mixer instead of mashing them beforehand. Thus, perfect weeknight baking as promised!

    • Dannausc on February 22, 2020

Good banana bread. Adding the whole bananas to the blender is a neat trick.

  • Snickerdoodles

    • Astrid5555 on December 14, 2019

These are very good and quick to make snickerdoodles. Halved the dough and made one part with the classic cinnamon topping and one with the matcha topping also from this book, which we preferred (“matcha heaven”). The instructions tell you to use a 3-tablespoon cookie dough scoop to scoop the dough into balls. I used a much smaller one to scoop the dough and the cookies were big enough. Otherwise they would have been enormous I think.

  • Boxed-mix brownies, from scratch

    • laurenlangston on March 28, 2023

Dead easy, super yummy, although "cool completely before cutting" are the instructions of a sadist.

    • Padthai on October 03, 2022

Yummy! Easy to make and turned out great.

  • Chocolate chip cookies

    • Padthai on October 03, 2022

Uses melted butter-no need to wait for butter at room temperature!

    • kshell on August 02, 2024

4 stars because my kids loved them but 3 stars from me. Too sweet. But I am starting to suspect my tastes have just shifted in such a way that I am no longer satisfied by what is arguably my ideal-textured chocolate chip cookie. My past self would be so sad! But if I were making these again for just me I would drop the amount of chocolate, use extra bittersweet, and add some nuts. It would probably get 4 stars from me then.
