Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Rhubarb pie

    • meggan on June 01, 2021

My husband asks for a rhubarb pie every year for his birthday and this has been his fave so far.

  • Sour cherry pie

    • ricki on August 07, 2022

Best pie ever! 1.1 pounds of fresh sour cherries pitted yielded enough for 60% of the recipe by weight. Perfect amount for a galette.

  • Classic apple pie

    • ricki on November 03, 2023

With pink lady and Northern spy. Like a good bakery pie, but I prefer a simpler farmhouse style that's all about the apples: less salt, less spice, less starch, less sugar (and I cut the sugar in half).

  • Honey chèvre pie

    • EatinSnax on August 25, 2025

This pie is… an interesting one. The baked goat cheese comes through very strongly, which wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I enjoyed it a lot, but it was pretty pungent. All the flavors do work together, like a charcuterie board as a dessert. The trickiest part of the recipe was the rye crust. It’s very very crumbly and fiddly. I would treat it as a press-in tart crust next time rather attempt to roll it like a traditional crust.

  • Salty chocolate chess pie

    • EatinSnax on June 30, 2025

Loved this! This recipe has all the hallmarks of a traditional chocolate chess pie, but wasn’t as cloyingly sweet as others I’ve tried. Nice crackly top, gooey underneath, addicting to eat.

    • ruth_5azib4 on February 18, 2026

Such an excellent recipe! Perfect salty-sweet and the texture was like a slightly gooey brownie with a crunch on top. Everyone went back for seconds, so unfortunately I had no leftovers and have to make it again soon. Oh no….

  • Brown butter-honey pecan pie

    • meggan on November 28, 2022

Very sweet as pecan pies tend to be. The brown butter was nice though.

  • Quiche

    • Cathyschuh on January 26, 2021

I now have my favorite quiche recipe. Excellent base with a variety of add in suggestions. Makes a 9 inch deeper dish quiche.
