Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Grilled shrimp Louie with avocado-buttermilk dressing

    • SpatulaCity on July 11, 2025

So good! Totally messed up the fresh dill, but subbed in fresh basil and mint. Fresh, herby and delicious salad. Used the suggested poach method for the shrimp, instead of grilling. Also added some blanched green beans because they were in the fridge. Husband commented on how beautiful the salad was! Great presentation and perfect summer dinner

  • Lemon-dill dressing

    • SpatulaCity on April 15, 2025

Pretty tasty! Made just as a dressing to top a chicken and arugula salad. I liked to think of it as a chicken piccata salad :)

Whether for a summer soiree or a simple meal to beat the heat, Hello Summer offers ingenious recipes for of-the-moment, seasonally focused, and fresh fare: think grilled oysters with miso-scallion butter, smoked salmon tostadas, the perfect watermelon and cucumber salad, passion fruit pudding pops, and so much more.

Written by IACP Award–winning authors Marnie Hanel and Jen Stevenson, the 75 recipes are accompanied by bonus tips on the do’s and don’ts of outdoor eating and entertaining, including how to scout the best beach spot, keep the sand out of your sandwich, read the tides so a waterfront dinner doesn’t turn into a deep-sea disaster, and even thwart pesky flies.
