Notes about this book

Got the hardcover edition out from the library. The text is tiny ((4 point type?) with huge margins. What were they thinking? If there had been an ebook edition that might have helped-- then the reader could resize it. But there isn't.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Easy eggplant maqlubeh

    • debkellie on October 11, 2023

I halved the recipe for 2.. the balance of chicken to rice was a bit out of kilter (I'd prefer a little more chicken).. but the flavour was wonderful, and yes it was relatively easy. I didn't turn my "cake" out: just we two don't need theatrics 0 just tasty food and this delivered on that front.

  • Shrimp with artichoke, turmeric, and preserved lemon

    • kitchen_chick on August 18, 2021

I substituted chicken for the shrimp and coconut milk for the cream. A different dish, but a nice riff on the original recipe.

  • All-spice chicken and potatoes with garlic and green chili sauce

    • Soulkitchenjen on October 23, 2023

This is a very ugly, very delicious recipe. I was worried it wouldn’t taste like much. The spice volume is quite small. It make a perfect chicken and potatoes with pan sauce.

  • Date and cardamom coffee tiramisu

    • Babycarrot on April 13, 2023

Really delicious version of a classic. Used store bought lady fingers to save some time. Used some coffee liqueur, brewed coffee, and rum was quite boozy but I didn't mind. Such a good combo, easy to prep - highly recommend.

  • Shrimp sayadiyeh with tomato dill tahini

    • mcvl on April 25, 2023

This was ... good. A whole day's prep and cooking, and it was definitely good, but not good enough to make me feel well rewarded for the effort.
