Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Milk bread

    • EmilyR on March 19, 2021

Standard milk bread. Takes a bit of waiting as it rises and such, but it is oddly addictive.

  • Carrot ma jiang mian

    • britt_7sdhvx on February 18, 2026

It has become our lunar new year tradition to make this. Absolutely worth the effort and you can make the different elements in advance. The bergamot olive oil is so necessary to track down—the bergamot carrot combination is one of the most unique I’ve tried!

  • Liberty roast duck

    • JesseMBadger on July 28, 2023

Definitely worth making once. Probably worth doing anytime you have the appropriate duck and an occasion to have people over for a special dinner.

  • Parisian dan tart

    • EmilyR on March 19, 2021

This comes together relatively easily and is a wonderful custardy cake, if you haven't had an egg tart. It's lighter than it looks and isn't overly sweet. Be sure to have some pie weights that make the crust a lot easier, too.

  • Banana-black sesame pie

    • EmilyR on March 19, 2021

The flavors of this pie are exquisite. It's like an Asian rendition of banoffee pie with black sesame crème pâtissière and miso caramel.
