    A fine, very easy dish with plenty of flavor. I tend to prefer my sunchokes with some bite whereas this is more of a mush. What I liked best if that it does not require peeling the sunchokes, which I find a true pain.

    Very nice with flatbreads, would definitely make again. Made a couple of tweaks, which all worked fine: swapped coriander seeds for half the amount of ground, swapped the sweet potato for extra carrot and left out the pomegranate molasses

    Not bad - the charred carrots are nice. The flavour was a bit flat for the ingredients in it

    Delicious and relatively easy. I broiled the cauliflower but should have for longer to get more char on it

    A very good and quite easy pumpkin dip. I mashed it, rather used a food processor. I'm surprised by how fiery the dish is given the ingrediants, though I think that is part of the appeal.

• Sweet potato & ricotta gnocchi

    These are the best sweet potato gnocchi I have ever made. Instead of using a barbecue or flame for charring the aubergine I cut it into small cubes and roasted them in the oven. I used chard instead of spinach because this was what I had on hand. In combination with the Aleppo chilli butter, which I made right before in the same pan as I tossed the gnocchi in, instead of preparing the butter in another small pan (fewer dirty dishes) these gnocchi were phenomenal. Will definitely be making again!

• Linguine with aubergine, fried capers & feta

    This was the second recipe I made from this book where the processs can be streamlined but the outcome was incredibly delicious! Instead of deep-frying the aubergines I brushed them with oil and baked them in the oven, much less effort and less tidying up. The feta adds a nice touch!
