  • Thai chicken and noodle salad

      This was really excellent. I used Asian wheat noodles for the pasta element. The marinade of hoisin, lime and pepper is a good marinade for poultry generally, and I’ve used it on both chicken and turkey.

  • Pasta with grilled salmon and stir-fried vegetables

      This was very good and easy to make. I’ve used both salmon and smoked trout with good results. My method varies from the one in the book; when making 2 servings, I cook the fish right in the pan after adding vinegar etc and before adding the bok choy. This works well for us.

  • Hoisin-glazed sea bass or salmon

      I used salmon and chose to bake the fish. Very easy recipe and delicious result.

  • Glazed cumin carrots

      A good preparation of carrots; not too sweet. I added some onion and small potatoes that I had from my garden. Also used the chili powder variation and my own homemade chicken stock. The result was a sweet and sour dish with a bit of spice and umami.

  • Roasted rosemary French fries

  • Multigrain griddlecakes

      I made a half recipe to try this out and they were very good. I subbed sour milk for the buttermilk, and oil for the butter. The combination of whole grain flour, oats, and cornmeal worked well. Will repeat.
