Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Overnight chia pot

    • FlowerGold on January 03, 2025

Yummy! Easy. Great staple. Can use whatever fruit and add-ins you like.

  • Feel-good smoothie

    • FlowerGold on March 04, 2026

Solid mixed berry smoothie that is simple and healthy. Liked that it wasn’t sweetened- just the berries and banana. Also a plus that it doesn’t require frozen banana. The assortment of seeds and the hemp hearts do add the “healthy” taste but I am good with that. Does have the texture of the berry seeds. Redo.

  • Mushroom, polenta, cavolo nero

    • FlowerGold on May 14, 2025

Rather bland. All the flavors melded without distinction. Maybe my vegetable broth was too strong? Used kale. Mushrooms were Baby Bella, Shitaki, and white. Added Parmesan - could have added a lot more! Easy to make.

  • Roasted butterbeans and cherry tomatoes

    • FlowerGold on December 22, 2024

Yummy and super easy. Be generous with the garlic and sauce. Added a broken crushed garlic clove. Roasting the garlic bulb is optional. Definitely want to eat all the juices. Can use regular cherry tomatoes. If using on the vine, clip them so they are easy to serve. Definitely a redo.

  • Reviving chilli, lemon, ginger soup

    • FlowerGold on October 28, 2025

Good comfort soup. A short cut and “meaty” version onion soup. Used chicken broth instead of vegetable. Easy and not a lot of ingredients. Like adding the lemon at the end. Flavors are even better the next day. Would make again.

  • Leek and sweet potato soup

    • FlowerGold on January 03, 2025

My leeks and onions were probably too large for my sweet potato potions. With the beans the soup is nice and thick but needed 4 cups of broth. Good but not necessarily noteworthy.

  • Cream of tomato soup

    • FlowerGold on October 23, 2025

Very nice. Recipe is is little loose on the quantity of canned tomatoes and how much liquid. I played around with the consistency. The flavors were nice used sriracha and honey instead of chili jam. Didn’t need a full cup of cream. Went heavy on the rosemary. Would definitely redo.

  • Smoky black-eyed bean stew

    • FlowerGold on January 02, 2026

Very good recipe for black eyed peas. Used Melissa’s 11 oz pre-soaked black eyed peas cooked in the instant pot for 4 minutes and 15 minutes release. Don’t like things very smokey or spicy so used about 3/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika- was still a little spicy for me but good. Used a little more of the Cajun seasoning. Substituted cherry tomatoes for the re pepper - added tomato with the beans. Made enough for 4. Could serve with rice. Would redo.
