Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Cornish fairings biscuits

    • KCKB on April 26, 2025

Warm and buttery, chewy - very tasty! Flavor is very similar to a ginger snap. Also pretty quick and easy to put together.

  • Irish rhubarb crumble

    • kshell on April 27, 2023

This was easy and delicious. I was a bit skeptical putting this in the oven. All of the crumbles I have made before hold together so you can make larger clumps. This was much drier and I worried it was too much flour/not enough butter. But it worked out and it wound up melding well with all the rhubarb juices while baking. I used slightly less rhubarb, about 800g from my freezer and did not pour off any juices prior to baking.

  • Baked cinnamon-sugar churros

    • KCKB on December 07, 2024

Made these with my daughter - she requested to make churros as a way to use the vanilla sugar from the Penzey’s Advent calendar. We picked this recipe because the churros are oven baked, so it didn’t require me to try to supervise an elementary-school aged kid while frying dough in a vat of hot oil. The churros turned out very tasty! They were a little flat and oddly shaped, but that’s almost certainly due to my daughter’s inexperience with piping dough, and not to the recipe itself.

  • Best-ever carrot cake

    • C_Richardson on March 31, 2020

This was a quick and easy cake. It was not overly sweet and the raisins balanced the spice in the cake. Absolutely delicious!

  • Cinnamon roll cake

    • Jennifer410 on November 07, 2022

This turned out really well. I did not have buttermilk but used her substitution and it worked perfectly. We all enjoyed this and it stored well.
