This is a book about bread from around the world. It covers a range of breads, including the naan bread and chipatis of India, the soda farls of Ireland, the foccaccia of Italy, the brioche of France and the sourdough bread of the USA. The history of each bread and its recipe is recorded. Organized by region, the book combines photographs of each area with photographs of each bread as well as the grains and cereals which are their source. Over 150 recipes are included for breads from savoury to sweet, leavened to unleavened. The book ends with a practical appendix which demonstrates basic bread-making techniques with step-by-step photographs.
