    I was not impressed with the flavor of these cookies. They were just okay in my opinion. I left the orange zest out of the dough and used a different icing. The dough was very sticky and hard to roll and cut. When rolled too thin they burned around the edges so we ended up making thicker cookies which were chewier.

    This turned out weirdly bitter and not at all satisfying.

    Something about the sweet potato and richness of the mild Italian sausage just did not do it for me. I think you could easily divide the filling among more potatoes.
