Soy-braised brisket with caramelized honey and garlic from Nothing Fancy: Unfussy Food for Having People Over (page 226) by Alison Roman

Where’s the full recipe - why can I only see the ingredients?

Always check the publication for a full list of ingredients. An Eat Your Books index lists the main ingredients and does not include 'store-cupboard ingredients' (salt, pepper, oil, flour, etc.) - unless called for in significant quantity.

Made several times, always takes longer than it says so I adapted for instant pot this time

This was a super easy recipe that tasted like I had slaved all day. Some aromatics, brown some stuff and put it in the pot and cover for 3.5 hours. I will say as a note I actually recommend you add a bit of water to the honey to give you some wiggle room for the browning. My first batch was a half batch and it burnt and I had to start again. But honestly, so delicious. I added more chiles and a bit less soy because I didn’t have low sodium soy sauce. The soup had a delightful kick. I do think you could also skim the fat.

The effort to reward ratio on this is off the charts. Perfect for entertaining. I did reduce the soy by a quarter cup and next time I might add additional honey. Just my preference. Great with something pickly and acidic.

The flavors reminded me a bit of Vietnamese caramel sauce, especially with the caramelized honey which was a nice touch. A bit on the salty side for me, but quite good overall. https://forums.egullet.org/topic/157248-cooking-from-dining-in-nothing-fancy-and-sweet-enough-by-alison-roman/?do=findComment&comment=2428155

My husband treated me to dinner and served it over rice and peas! The savory, rich sweet yet tangy flavors wowed us both ! I definitely give this dish a 5 star rating?????

Delicious- really tastes like pho. Served this over rice noodles with lots of the broth. For tomorrow’s leftovers I’m going to get a lime, which will make it even more like pho.

I did not prepare this dish, but was the beneficiary of being able to consume it since my mom made it for Sunday dinner. Absolutely outstanding - the flavor of the broth and brisket were so delectable and served over rice noodles was perfect. YUM!!!
