Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Marinated olives

    • Aggie92 on December 28, 2015

After the olives marinated a few days, I tried a few and found the marinade to be a little flat tasting, so I added 2 tablespoons of sherry vinegar and that made this recipe go from pretty good to tasty. Makes for an easy way to perk-up the plain olives from the grocery store's olive bar. Served as hors d'oeuvres on Christmas Day.

  • Classic eggnog

    • Shelmar on September 03, 2019

So-so, not a competitor to Joy of Cooking Eggnog in Quantity II.

  • Sage-orange turkey with white wine gravy

    • Aggie92 on December 28, 2015

The herb rub for this turkey was delicious. Made just enough to rub under the skin of the breasts and legs. Will double the amount next time and rub it all over the skin too. The gravy was so good I could have licked the roasting pan clean. I normally suck at making gravy, but this recipe made me a gravy rockstar! Thanks to this recipe, my Christmas turkey was one of the best I've ever made.

  • Tarragon peas with pearl onions

    • Aggie92 on December 28, 2015

Delicious, easy, and fast. Made as a side dish to serve with this book's "Sage-orange turkey with white wine garvy."

  • Broccoli pancetta sauté

  • Cranberry shortbread

    • Aggie92 on December 13, 2016

Easy slice and bake cookies. Good butter flavor with a hint of lemon. I think you could successfully substitute orange zest and juice for the lemon. May just mix the pistachios into the dough next time as they have a tendency to fall off when slicing. High altitude (6200 ft.) changes: none.
