    Despite strictly following the instructions & refrigerating the meatball mixture overnight, then browning really well, these completely fell apart on cooking, creating a Bolognaise-style sauce. Tasty, but not what we had hoped for.

    Not sure what the yeast does? Baking powder might work better. Will try that next time. (Or leave the batter to rise - which is not something specified in the recipe. 6/6/16

    Suspect there's something wrong with this recipe's ingredient quantities. Calls for 250g shelled fresh borlotti beans or 1.8kg dried borlotti beans...

• Pistachio cake (Torta di pistacchi)

    Lighter than I expected. I used rum. Maybe another tablespoon would have helped.

• Roast chicken thighs with tarragon and garlic (Coscie di pollo al dragoncello)

    This much garlic is not needed. I wouldn't bother rubbing with olive oil, as the thighs produce enough of their own oil. Questionable whether so much stock is needed. I found the dish to be SWIMMING in gravy, which, although delicious was too much.

• Polenta and almond tart (Torta di fregoloti)

    A bit sweet. Maybe could substitute some of the sugar with more almond meal. I made it too thick, wasn't happy with it, so sliced it up and re-cooked the slices into biscotti, As biscotti they weren't too sweet.
