  • Squash gratin

Good, but rather too one dimensional. Used mixture of acorn and butternut. Next time, I plan to add some blue cheese to the filling and up the Gruyere on top.

  • Salted caramel-orange upside-down cake

    • bellatavia on November 05, 2013

Great recipe. Flawless--it went exactly as I expected and when I flipped the cake out of its pan, it was perfect, it looked like the magazine photograph! Also, it tasted delicious. The salted caramel flavor was muted to me, but the orange turned mellow with just the tiniest tinge of bitterness which we really liked, actually. The cake texture is moist but grainy, it looks elegant and yet is rustic -- it's a great traveling cake, too. Very sturdy.

  • Pumpkin pancakes

    • bellatavia on December 26, 2013

These pancakes are delicious, but the batter is very thick. I would recommend adding a little bit of milk until the batter is slightly more fluid. The result with the thick batter was that they didn't spread out in the pan, and were a little undercooked in the middle. Also, depending on your taste, you might want to add more cinnamon or cloves (in addition to the pumpkin pie spice).
