Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Egg pots with nutmeg crème fraîche

    • lmoon on October 21, 2024

Ingredients list is incorrect. It calls for whole eggs, not ehh whites.

  • Raw shredded coconut, chia and almond cereal

    • Hellyloves2cook on May 26, 2014

Have recently made this - easy to throw together and store. I serve with coconut milk or almond milk and a few slices of banana. A nice start to the day!

  • Coconut crepes with banana and maple syrup

    • Hellyloves2cook on December 23, 2015

Easy to make. Time consuming to do one at a time but unless you have several pans on the go then that is what it takes. As with any crepes/pancakes the first few are always a disaster; with perseverance etc it became a doddle. I served these up with bananas, seasonal berries and coconut threads and a drizzle of agave syrup. They were delicious but what was supposed to be breakfast turned out to be brunch by the time I had made enough for 5 of us. Note to self... start making early!

  • Creamy coconut and chia seed breakfast pudding

    • Hellyloves2cook on December 25, 2015

I made this for a dessert. I used raw agave syrup and mix of coconut milk and almond milk. Left in the fridge for 7 hours. Served in glasses with poached rhubarb and a little coconut yoghurt on the top and sprinkled with slivered almonds. ooh... delicious and hit the right spot.

  • Caramelised pumpkin with parsley and black olive gremolata

    • ChelseaP on May 21, 2021

Make this all the time. Such a great side. Often have it with roast chicken.

  • Best grilled fennel in a smoky paprika tomato sauce with bacon

    • ChelseaP on July 08, 2022

This was pretty good but I think next time I would cook the fennel a bit more, as I like it quite soft when cooked.

  • Brown butter fish with lemon and capers

  • Lamb leg steaks with mint and apple cider sauce

    • rebecca_i6gxj9 on May 12, 2026

This is the whole food version of mint sauce you buy in the supermarket.

  • Apple and sage pork cassoulet

    • e_ballad on December 04, 2017

A fantastic winter warmer, though there were a few timing issues. For the volume of fluid, we were nowhere near the gravy consistency at the recipe’s specified cooking time. At 2.5hrs, I strained off the liquid & boiled it to the thickness indicated in the recipe, before returning it to the stew. Having said that, the flavour was fantastic. I had been concerned that it would be overly sweet, but it was a very savoury dish.

  • Red wine, rosemary and garlic beef pie

    • FlowerGold on November 18, 2024

Good. Meat has lots of flavor. Only us d 3 c of broth and would only use 2 next time.

  • Spanish braised chickpeas

    • FlowerGold on April 09, 2026

Deceptively simple ingredients that combine into a flavorful dish. Super easy. Used sweet onions instead of shallots and a dollop of pesto instead of basil. Added two beef kielbasa links. It did get dry while braising get dry so added a little sake. Only used 2 teaspoons of Spanish smoked paprika. Served over rice. Definitely a great dish to have on hand.

  • Millet pilaff with grapes, feta, mint and cucumber

    • FlowerGold on May 28, 2026

I liked it though my husband was not a fan. The millet is bitter and he didn’t care for tge sweet contrast of the grapes. I liked it with the salty feta and capers.

  • Beetroot and brown rice risotto

    • Hellyloves2cook on December 29, 2014

This was tonight's meal. I used organic olive oil as the fat of choice in this recipe. The recipe was easy to follow and make. It took a little longer than a conventional risotto as using the whole grain. The result was rather nice actually. Sweetness from the beets and onions, earthiness came through also and a little fleck of thyme made it all the nicer. Simply a beautiful texture. This easily served 4 people. It is a very filling dish and almost better for letting it cool down warm rather than piping hot. My 10 year old son was quite impressed with this.

  • Baked cinnamon and vanilla custard

    • Hellyloves2cook on June 06, 2014

Easy recipe- I used coconut milk as a dairy free alternative and they turned out beautiful. I thought they were best served chilled.

  • Simple coconut apple cake topped with cinnamon cream

    • e_ballad on June 10, 2017

Very dense & had a strong baking soda aftertaste that was unappealing. Did not enjoy this one at all.

  • Black bean and date chocolate brownies

    • KaylaMarie on October 29, 2018

I was a little hesitant with this one as I love brownies. But this was surprisingly good. Will definitely be making it again.

  • Granola cookies

    • ChelseaP on May 22, 2021

These are great when you want some healthier snacks around. They come together really quickly and taste great!

  • Lemon and coconut truffles

    • ChelseaP on May 22, 2021

Delicious healthy bliss balls. Lemon flavour really shines through.

  • Fig and lemon spelt-flour muffins

    • ithyt on August 14, 2016

8.16 25 minutes was way too long to cook them in my oven. Flavours were great but mine were dry. Definitely try again but cut back baking time. Didn't add pinenuts as I didn't have any - weren't missed, and used dried apricots I/s of figs.

  • Peanut butter milkshake

    • e_ballad on July 11, 2019

This was unpleasantly sweet. Perhaps there was an error in the recipe where the honey was supposed to be measured in teaspoons rather than tablespoons.

  • Berry and chocolate smoothie

    • ithyt on July 31, 2016

7.16 Amazing recipe - I absolutely adore this smoothie.
