Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Spaghetti con cipolla e finiccheitto di kery

    • Breadcrumbs on October 16, 2010

      p. 97 - Oct 2010 - First use of this recipe. This was a delicious dish. Made per directions. Comes together very quickly. The addition of 3 tbsp cream is a nice touch and balances the anchovy/onion mix. Didn't need to add any salt to the mix, anchovy salt was adequate. Definitely a hit and will make again.

  • Cuscus estivo

    • lorloff on September 25, 2020

Easy and very delicious approach to couscous with the herbs making a delicious addition. I had homemade bean stock on hand from having made a batch of white beans with garlic that I used instead of water and it came out really well.

Publishers Text

Four years after winning the 1997 James Beard Award for Best Italian Cookbook, Wanda and her daughter Giovanna return with a glorious second helping of homestyle recipes from Gangivecchio's Sicilian kitchen.

Here you'll find rustic and delicious recipes for everything from antipasti to desserts. Among the new temptations are egg dishes, including beautiful fritatas; all kinds of pizza and focaccia; traditional Arab couscous, adapted the Sicilian way; and homemade wines and liqueurs, including the Italian favorite Limoncello.

Along with the recipes, they serve up funny and touching stories about relatives, friends, and even petsstories rich with the atmosphere of the gorgeous Sicilian countryside.
