Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Japanese-style spinach (Gomae)

    • IndyGirl on August 07, 2019

Tasty. I skipped the mirin because I didn’t have it. Served with sablefish. https://m.vitalchoice.com/recipe/braised-garlic-ginger-sablefish?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided

  • Spicy tamarind stewed fish & okra

    • dinnermints on July 20, 2016

This recipe has potential. I haven't eaten a lot of okra and thought this might be a less slimy way to cook it, but no. Next time I'd use green beans and/or zucchini instead. I'd also increase the salt to a teaspoon. I was a bit short on fresh tomatoes and threw in some dried ones, and that was really good in there - would do again. Also used 1 serrano instead of two for my husband's sake. Overall the flavor was good and this could be a quick weeknight meal.

  • Tangerine & roasted beet salad with feta & pistachios

  • Smoked salmon & cream cheese omelet

    • mharriman on December 15, 2020

I used 2 ounces of smoked salmon (not sure how many tablespoons that measures) and omitted the dill since I didn’t have any. I subbed half-the- fat Philadelphia cream cheese for full fat. Recipe made a quick, delicious lunch.
