Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Carrot loaf cake

    • Lafro on May 18, 2022

Very tasty and sweet. Although I found I used alot of bowls when making it. The glaze added an interesting texture as well. Might try to add some coconut next time.

  • Apple and jam oil cake

    • lou_weez on May 05, 2020

A beautiful apple cake that I thought was better on the second day. Will make this again.

  • Chocolate coconut milk cake

    • SpatulaClark on January 01, 2021

This one was a mud cake style. Good next day, left at room temperature.

  • Russian honey cake

    • lou_weez on May 02, 2021

I made this 2 days prior to serving it after a celebration lunch and it was a huge hit!! Having tasted each element while assembling the cake, the flavours were good, but nothing too special. Once fully assembled and having been left for a couple of days, the flavours developed into a beautiful honey/toffee meets cream cheese bomb. The best!!!

    • kazhearn on September 07, 2023

There has been an amendment by them that it should be thickened cream not pure cream

  • Poppy seed chiffon

    • Astrid5555 on April 17, 2021

My husband, who is not into poppy seeds at all, called this the best poppy seed cake he has ever eaten. Incredibly fluffy and light, very quick and easy to make, a keeper!

  • Orange almond bars

    • Lepa on December 01, 2021

These were such a wonderful treat! The buttery short crust sandwiches a chewy almond/orange interior. The bars are not very sweet so the slick of icing makes them perfect. I had a hard time rolling out the layers and they were pretty sloppy but the recipe said not to worry about it and they did, in fact, work fine once baked. Everyone in my family just loved these.

  • Coconut and passionfruit slab cake

    • ChelseaP on June 29, 2021

A very delicious and moist cake! Keeps really well.

    • Lepa on August 16, 2022

This cake is delicious. It's made of coconut and almond flour so it has a lovely, dense texture. The icing is great but was a bit too thick. I added a little bit of lemon juice to loosen it up.

This recipe can be found online here https://www.nigella.com/recipes/guests/monday-morning-cooking-clubs-coconut-and-passionfruit-slab-cake (note to self to try it out)

    • Staceydee on March 07, 2026

I love this cake. So easy and delicious

  • Apple pie cake

    • Nancy402 on January 01, 2023

This lived up to its name and was delicious. Allow time for the freezing of the dough etc. Could not find plum jam, but black currant jam worked well.

  • Spiced apple crumble

    • lou_weez on April 02, 2020

I used pears instead of apples and halved the recipe. This was delicious.
