Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Thai-style chicken and rice (Khao man gai)

    • Shewi128 on June 09, 2022

Very good and fresh. We loved everything about this meal, and the combo of everything with the sauce and cilantro made a very delicious meal.

    • SenseiHeidi on March 14, 2023

I made this dish as written and found it to be very bland. I used Pantai brand soybean paste. If I ever make this again I would double all of the flavoring ingredients, i.e ginger, alliums, salt.

  • Kansas City-style cheesy corn

    • sarahawker on September 08, 2020

Made with my teenager for Labor Day side. This is very rich and meaty - family loved it. Simple to make, could use frozen corn if not in season.

    • Shewi128 on June 09, 2022

This was like a meaty mac and cheese, but with corn instead of macaroni. We loved everything about this dish.

  • Chicken Parmesan pasta bake

    • Shewi128 on August 12, 2022

A very easy, family-friendly meal. I wanted to make it more family-friendly by par-boiling the pasta and adding the sauce and chicken, then placing it into the freezer. I baked it under foil for ~60 minutes partially defrosted at 350F, then coated it with a small amount of panko and parmesan, then baked uncovered for 20-30 minutes. I would do this method again, but I'd need to cook the pasta only halfway before putting it into the casserole dish. Even though it wasn't great, I'd try it again.

  • Spiced chickpea gyros with tahini yogurt

    • Shewi128 on May 20, 2022

I really liked this. The level of spice was good, and was customizable. It was also very filling.

  • Lard-fried chicken

    • ethedens on October 20, 2023

Very good and less work than expected!

  • Stuffed pizza

    • Shewi128 on June 09, 2022

I loved this method of making pizza. I will try it again with other fillings in the future as my kids don't love all of the meat.

  • Salted butterscotch sauce

    • Shewi128 on August 15, 2022

Wow, this was good. Perfect combo of salty and sweet. I would make this again as it was super easy.

Cook's Country showcases "country cooking": simple, great-tasting homemade food--Sunday dinners, potluck suppers, backyard barbecues, and even kids' birthday parties. And you can be sure that Cook's Country's recipes will come out right the first time, and every time, you go in the kitchen. We've taken the obsessive recipe development techniques that we've polished through years at America's Test Kitchen (which involve testing and tweaking recipes as many as 100 times until we are certain that anyone who follows them will meet with success) and brought them to Cook's Country. Cook's Country's mission is to reclaim, revive, and restore classic American heirloom recipes.
