Notes about this book

Bought this book as we love Cornwall....it's evocative of the place, beautiful images and a good read if you want to be by the sea in your head. However as a cookbook it's really disappointing...very basic recipes. Cucumber sandwiches, oat cookies, strawberries dipped in chocolate are typical. Hoping the follow-up book is more exciting for the competent and enthusiastic cook!

Reviews about this book

  • Wrap Your Lips Around This

I’ve enjoyed getting to know Cornwall through the eyes of local, and a local chef at that. Emily has a knack for putting together recipes that are very of the place.

Publishers Text

Think of a place where the sky meets the sea. Where the coastline is rugged; hidden coves nestle among white cliff faces and surf breaks on gloriously sandy beaches. The home of Poldark, Daphne du Maurier, cream teas and old-fashioned holidays. Where there is more than a hint of magic. This is Cornwall. In Sea & Shore, Emily Scott brings together the magic of this beautiful part of the world, with over 80 simple and wholesome recipes perfect for the home cook.

Emily likes to use few ingredients and let them shine – less really is more on her plate. The recipes are relaxed, use minimal ingredients and will show you how to prepare, cook and eat without myriad trips to the shops and above, all without fuss. From paired-back suppers to a dish to delight weekend guests, or a pudding for that special occasion, Sea & Shore is more than just a cookbook; it shares the connection between food, a sense of place and storytelling. Interweaving the sentimental tales of her childhood in Provence, to the crashing shores of Cornwall and golden sandy beaches, with stunning photography alongside, this charming cookbook translates experience and memories into ingredients that come together as simple, rustic dishes which anyone can easily recreate at home, bringing a little of the Cornish coastline to their kitchen.
