Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Homemade Boursin with grilled bread

    • julesamomof2 on June 17, 2024

Very good, very easy, and a nice step up from store bought Boursin. Served with grilled homemade sourdough and it was a hit. Definite repeat.

  • Crispy smashed chicken breasts with gin-and-sage jus

    • Fyretigger on June 15, 2025

Reviews of this cookbook universally raved over this recipe, and I’m a gin drinker, so I thought it was right up my alley. My only modification was granulated garlic instead of fresh due to a shopping failure. While I enjoyed it, I also found it unremarkable. For drinking I prefer botanical gins such as Roku. I suspect this recipe really needs a classic juniper forward gin.

  • Bacon fat-roasted cauliflower with herb salad

    • leona_jxmwcf on March 29, 2026

This was a delicious way to roast cauliflower and the herb salad was a lovely contrast to the smoky roasted vegetable. I forgot to preheat the pan but the cauliflower still browned well in the oven.

  • Wok-fried black pepper asparagus

    • sosayi on April 23, 2025

Easy, quick and delicious side dish. Would definitely make again.

  • Homeground burgers with hot-and-sour pub cheese

    • asalty on January 17, 2024

Really tasty, juicy burgers. We’ll definitely be making them again. I used a grill pan on stovetop and it worked quite well. Can’t wait to try making them on an outdoor grill.

  • Backstrap (venison loin) Bordelaise

    • jgreenheck on November 21, 2023

This is a great recipe…even without the marrow. I made it at our deer camp and it was universally loved. The cinnamon made it oh so special.

Publishers Text

In her much-anticipated follow-up to The New Midwestern Table, Amy writes, “no one will ever care about the food as much as you and I do.” Company will have you rethinking the way you entertain, throwing dinner parties that are less formal, more frequent, and as fun for the cook as for the guests. Preaching leniency, not-guilty pleasures, and the art of making it in advance, Amy soothes the most common party anxieties one by one. Her reflections on writing menus, produce shopping, and how to time a meal are novel but timeless. Not afraid of meat (but obsessed with vegetables), these 125 loyal recipes are arranged in menu form?from intimate dinner parties to larger holiday feasts to parties that serve up to twenty.

With a feast of gorgeous photography and plenty of down-in-the-pan cooking nerdery, Company encourages a return to the habit, and the joy, of cooking for family and friends.
