Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Spice-rubbed pork chops with peach pico de gallo

    • Hana.Sundet on October 06, 2024

Made the peach salsa to go over Italian sausages--delicious! Great for this harvest season where the peaches yielded well & the tomatoes not so much.

  • Rosemary-tomato rice and beans (Riso e fagioli)

    • Lottabooks on April 17, 2024

Made this for Cookbook Club at Ruby's Books in Folsom, California. We sampled about 10 of the dishes from this cookbook and all were terrific. I used Cento tomatoes and thought the flavor was very good. Also drizzled a little bit of Italian chili oil on top, and added a parmesan rind with the tomato juice. The rice needed more liquid - have some on hand and check the pot periodically. I used Carnaroli rice.

  • Japanese-style chicken meatballs

    • kitchen_chick on August 19, 2022

Absolutely delicious! I made a double-batch, so I just used a single whole egg so I didn't have to deal with extra eggs yolks. I love the ginger note. (I may have added a bit more ginger than the recipe calls for.)

Wow! I doubled it too. Delicious and unique Japanese flavor. I used a Junmai Crane sake by manotsuru from WEGMANS that worked very well. I served it with a veggie forward couscous and everyone loved it. It’ll go into regular rotation

These are really good! I made them with gluten-free panko and tamari. I was a little skeptical about no salt in the chicken mixture but followed the recipe and the sauce was so flavorful and full of salty umami that it wasn’t missed. My kids loved these and so I can see them going on the regular rotation. I served them with rice and quick pickled cucumbers.

    • Skamper on May 16, 2023

These worked well with plant-based ground "chicken. " I shortened the cooking time a bit but otherwise made according to the recipe.

  • Broccolini with mustard seeds and coconut

    • lorloff on August 21, 2022

This was a great dish. Fabulous flavors used a fresh coconut and used the coconut water to cook the dish. Came out wonderfully. Will make again. Delicious.

  • Spaghetti with parsley pesto (Spaghetti al pesto di prezzemolo)

    • TonyInSeattle on December 25, 2022

This was fantastic and endlessly adaptable. You could add fresh or roasted cherry tomatoes, fried pancetta -- the sky's the limit. We served it with a side of salmon and it was perfect.

  • Burmese tomato salad with shallots and peanuts

    • TonyInSeattle on December 25, 2022

This was a nice departure from the usual tomato salad... great Asian flavors!

    • jenburkholder on October 14, 2024

Excellent, tasted like a Thai salad to me. Great accompaniment to a rich northern Thai pork curry.

  • Greek apple cake with honey and cinnamon (Milopita)

    • Running_with_Wools on November 09, 2022

I baked this for 1/2 hour longer than called for and didn’t want it to be dry so took it out. Unfortunately, it was still raw in the middle. I love a good apple cake and my favorites include the Dori Greenspan French apple cake, and the chunky walnut apple cake from Silver Palate. I don’t think I would make this one again.
