    This recipe uses whole eggs and the cookies just spread, found one that was similar using on egg whites which worked much better.

    Good almond cookies. They are crunchy on the outside, but soft in the middle. I got 28 cookies.

• Fruitcake shortbread

    The recipe calls for baking 25 minutes. I baked for 18 minutes and my cookies are a little darker than I would like. I know my oven is fairly accurate but 25 minutes is too long.

• Dark chocolate cookies with caramel

    Caramels spread and stuck to parchment. Tasted ok but did not look great. Second recipe from this book that wasn’t great.

• Dark chocolate-hazelnut fudge
