  • Marry-me chicken meatball grain bowl

    • sarahj22 on December 23, 2025

A nice and easy dinner. The only elements of this I didn't enjoy were the foolish substitutions I made: parsley instead of basil and quinoa instead of pearl barley (when I'm not a fan of either parsley or quinoa...) The sun dried tomato yogurt sauce is especially nice. I think I'll make this again and increase the quantities for some batch lunches.

  • Sausages 'n' apples

    • sarahj22 on December 05, 2025

I enjoyed this more than the rest of the family - my four year old would only eat the sausages and salad leaves. It's a nice easy autumnal midweek dinner. I gave it an extra 5-10mins cooking time as we like our sausages super crispy, but that probably means the apple and sweet potato fell apart more than was intended. The recipe says to chop the sage finely but the picture shows full sage leaves. I used crispy salad leaves instead of lamb's lettuce to use up what we had. I think the fruit and veg component could be scaled up a bit - one sweet potato and one apple between 2 people feels a bit mean.

  • Creamy harissa & roast squash pasta

    • sarahj22 on January 08, 2026

I enjoyed this more than the rest of the family. I doubled up on ingredients, left the skin on the squash and let it cook for longer at a lower temperature than specified (35 mins at 170 as stuff tends to burn in my air fryer at 200). The squash makes the sauce very creamy (even with only a small amount of creme fraiche) and the crispy sage leaves add a lovely extra flavour and texture. I set some sauce aside before adding the harissa before serving to the four-year-old but she still wasn't a fan. My husband has decided he doesn't really like pasta (!) so he wasn't mad about this either. I added the pasta to the sauce bowl, rather than the pan, but I should have used the pan as the recipe specified to make the sauce emulsify effectively. Unfortunately not a repeat but I'll enjoy the leftovers.
