Cardamom was a nice surprise. Will probably make again, but with no urgency.

  • Rhubarb-miso salmon

    • kshell on June 11, 2024

There was nothing remarkable about this sauce. I don't understand how two punchy ingredients that I love, rhubarb and miso, could be so blah together. This made too much for the portion of salmon I had so I used one third on salmon, then as a marinade for chicken, then as a sauce for sauteed shrimp. In no application did this sing. At almost no point could you taste that there was miso or rhubarb involved in the final product.

  • Pantry peanut-butter curry

You probably don't "need" a recipe for this kind of sauce. I am reviewing it because it gave me the idea to freeze it ahead of time in convenient ice-cube sized pieces, and it has saved me on a few last minute meals. It uses one whole can of coconut milk in one go, and that's appreciated.

Publishers Text

Despite our food culture's deification of preserving ingredients through classic methods like canning and fermenting, we've relegated the freezer to the category of TV dinners and overwrought casseroles. But the freezer can be your best meal-prepping friend, and the easiest way to always have a ready-made meal on hand. Modern Freezer Meals provides one hundred fresh recipes for frozen food—from healthy, vibrant grain bowls to proteins cooked straight from the freezer with tons of flavor still intact.

Frozen food guru Ali Rosen offers proper packing and labeling techniques to shatter some of the myths around freezer meals. The days of freezer burn or giant blocks of unwieldy meals are replaced by dozens of dishes that stand up to the cold.
