This book offers 80 inventive, but inexpensive recipes for cost-conscious cooks. By making the most of in-season fruit and vegetables, the book shows how you can cook a two-course meal for four people for under five pounds. There are recipes for meat- and fish-eaters as well as vegetarians. The book is divided into four main parts - one for each season. Each section includes recipes for lunches and light suppers, main meals and puddings. In addition there are seasonal "specials" which have been created for celebration meals such as Easter and Christmas. There are also four short sections devoted to dressings, relishes and chutneys, sweet sauces and preserves. The author is a presenter on BBC TV's Bazaar programme.
