  • Sweet potato, chorizo and red pepper salad

    • Boffcat on March 08, 2017

I sped this up a bit by using roasted peppers from a jar. The salad is very tasty, though I'm not sure I'd bother to follow a recipe in future. Serves two - in our greedy household, at least!

  • Fusilli with cauliflower, pine nuts and raisins

    • Melanie on April 20, 2015

We loved this dish - delicious, quick and easy with a really interesting mix of flavours. Substituted chopped almonds for the pine nuts which worked great.

  • Chestnut and truffle risotto

    • Boffcat on February 26, 2017

Delicious. I only use a fraction of the butter, and still find the risotto very rich and creamy.

  • Red wine and chorizo risotto

    • FJT on January 24, 2021

Tasty risotto. Not sure that red wine particularly made a difference; it obviously changed the colour a little but once the chorizo was added along with its oil everything was more of an orangey hue rather than red.

  • Beef and onion gratin

    • Melanie on November 07, 2011

This tasted amazing! The Panko added texture but was a little distracting, I wouldn't add it next time. I'm keen to try the stew component as a pie filling though.

  • Lancashire hot pot

    • Melanie on November 07, 2011

I felt that this recipe didn't make enough for four. I think it would if there were sides but I was hoping to make this as a stand alone dish. Tasted pretty good though!

  • Salmon with spicy rice noodles

  • Poached cod and lentils

    • Boffcat on February 26, 2017

Good flavours. I wasn't convinced by the benefit of cooking the lentils "as if making a risotto" - next time I would make the dish in a saucepan rather than a frying pan, and add more liquid from the start rather than one ladleful at a time.

  • Sea bream with leeks, chorizo and potatoes

    • Sugoosygee on November 16, 2024

We've made this recipe many times, but cooking the fish on the Weber grill. A delicious flavour combination.

But here the book is another vegetable win, by demonstrating dishes and techniques that make meat less of a main event, and more of a faithful compliment to gorgeous vegetables.
