The eight hour lamb is a good one. Can't go past the tomato side sauce too

As a Masterchef tragic I'd been thinking of buying Marion's book since it came out, but did I need another cookbook?? Probably not. But this week I spied it at one of those cut price bookshops, for $6.99, so I couldn't pass up such a bargain. It was actually more of a bargain than I realised, as when I went to the cash register it turned out that it was priced incorrectly, and should have been $9.99. Still a huge reduction from the original price. I think the shop assistant suspected me of swopping price tags, but I'm innocent of that! I've only made one dish so far (Wok-fried noodles which chilli vinegar) and I really liked it. So now browsing for another recipe to try.

Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chiang Mai noodle soup (Khao soi)

    • Melanie on March 08, 2014

I made use of store bought red curry paste instead of the recipe in the book. This made it very easy to bring together. I wasn't able to find the pickled mustard greens so served without - still tasted great.

  • Cavolo nero, potato and bacon soup

i didn't add any greens, but it was very nice, the parmesan cheese is a must though... i just sprinkled it on top.. i used organic potatoes so felt very comfortable leaving them unpeeled..

  • Beefy beef burgers

the dill mayonnaise from this recipe is my go-to one

  • Wok-fried noodles with chilli vinegar (Pad siew)

    • Margaretsmall on August 10, 2013

Made this yesterday and will make it again. Next time I'll remember to cook the egg! Used regular broccoli as no Chinese broccoli in my local Coles this week. I halved the recipe as there's only two of us. For people with big appetites this may seem like a small serving, but it was enough for me. Good flavour and straightforward and quick to cook. The chilli vinegar was an interesting addition.

  • Fennel risotto with Taleggio & rosemary pangrattato

    • NikkiPixie on May 05, 2014

Risotto was very good but also quite rich - small portions only! The breadcrumbs on top, though, were a revelation: incredibly flavourful and totally addictive. Making arancini with the leftovers tonight. :o)

Publishers Text

If you ask Marion Grasby what her favourite food is, she'll list at least 10 things. Marion loves food. And she loves talking about it.

During last year's MasterChef series, Marion wowed Australia with her incredible cooking talent, her assured palate and her sunny personality and warmth.

Now in her first cookbook Marion shares more than 80 of her favourite recipes from throughout her life: the places she's been, and the people she's met and cooked with. Marion has lived in the Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea, Queensland and South Australia, and her food is an eclectic mix of Thai, Italian, French, Middle Eastern... and firmly Aussie.

These are recipes for the home cook, dishes to make every night of the week, for dinner parties and lazy afternoons. The recipes are peppered with entertaining stories and with incredible photography of the food and of Marion's travels through Australia and Thailand.
