Notes about Recipes in this book

  • English fried eggs and a gammon of bacon

    • LeilaD on June 23, 2017

Cooking time way, way too long on both the bacon and the eggs.

  • Apple blossom glazed pork loin

    • LeilaD on July 26, 2019

I also cooked this one for 20 additional minutes before pouring the sauce on for the last ten- came out fully done, first try.

  • Bourbon-glazed pork loin with peaches for adults

    • LeilaD on January 19, 2018

Roast for 60 minutes, not 40- texture in center of roast was rubbery

    • LeilaD on November 03, 2020

Requires marinating overnight. (I have forgotten this the last two times I made it.)

  • Pumpkin juice

    • foodtrekker on September 08, 2021

I used canned pumpkin. It is even better without the grape juice!

    • darkpizza on May 09, 2026

      Tastes like pears!

  • Oversized blueberry muffins with crunchy tops

    • eroachTN on November 05, 2022

I made the apple variation that's in the book and YUM!! I used 2% Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and brown sugar because it's what I had. I also doubled the cinnamon listed, glad I did. I'll definitely try the original blueberry version next.

These are a family favorite! Usually when we make them, we just have frozen blueberries, so we extend the baking time (~45 min in our oven, your mileage may vary). My daughter adores cinnamon, so we usually add a dash, sometimes in place of the lemon zest and sometimes in addition to it. We’ve also used this batter for mini muffins, baking for ~20 min using a cold batter made with frozen blueberries.

  • Molly's meatballs with onion sauce

    • eroachTN on June 19, 2020

Super easy, turned out delicious! I used shallot in the meatballs and they turned out great!

  • Shepherd's pie

  • Brown Windsor soup

    • ethedens on February 05, 2025

This was okay, but I wasn't super crazy about it. Not sure I liked the blended base. 3.25/5

  • Pumpkin pie

    • IowanCorn on November 23, 2023

A bit sweeter than I like my pumpkin pie, but decent. I think that cooking the filling before adding to the blind baked pie shell was not really necessary, and added to the risk of scrambling the eggs as you added them.

  • Classic roast turkey

    • IowanCorn on February 04, 2024

A good basic recipe for roast turkey. You need to keep an eye on the time, because at 400F, the turkey will cook quicker. Mine was also underweight for the recipe, which may have been the reason the turkey was done faster than the time given in the recipe. Still, it was quite tasty, and the turkey was not dried out because of extra veg in the roaster.

  • Easiest cranberry sauce

    • KCKB on November 25, 2023

Made this for Thanksgiving at my nephew’s request. Easy and very tasty!
