Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Chocolate cake

    • Fiona on August 12, 2013

I made this for a friends birthday who loves chocolate. It went down extremely well, though the teenage boys found it a bit too rich. I didn't add the sugar water to the cakes, as I thought they were sweet enough, and they were moist enough not to need them. And I only used one cup of ganache - rather than the suggested 3 cups. I had a good cover on top and in the middle, so can't imagine where you put another 2 cups!

  • Baked custard tarts

    • foodgloriousfood on April 01, 2022

Custard didn't set, added an extra 3 egg yolks and it came out well. My eggs were xtra lge too. The 6 eggs to 600ml of milk just didn't cut it for me.

  • Brioche dough

    • Bronny on January 29, 2014

My family love this recipe I make the brioche the day before in muffin tins you get 22 standard muffin size or 12 large muffins I put half (1 muffin tray) uncooked in the freezer for later or if I want them for breakfast I put them in the fridge overnight and cook them in the morning. I use butter, cinnamon and brown sugar in the filling.

  • Date and orange scones

    • Fiona on October 27, 2014

I love date and orange scones - good ones anyway. I've never made them before so knowing that Little and Friday only serve up delicious food in their cafe,, I reckoned their recipe was bound to be good. They were sensational - everyone loved them. The recipe says they make 6, but I made 9 and they were huge.

    • vintagerose on September 06, 2023

This recipe makes a beautiful light scone. I swapped out the dates for raisins as I'm not a fan of dates, and also made them quite a bit smaller. Definitely a keeper.
