      Used roasted duck and duck broth instead. It was great.

      We liked this - it was light and refreshing and felt spring-like (springy?) with the asparagus I threw in at the last minute. We left out the bamboo shoots - those things are persona non grata in our house.

      Just made this! Delicious...even without the shrimp paste. It makes a LOT. I suggest cutting it in half unless you're feeding a crowd.

      The Miso ramen with cha siu was decent. With ramen it's all about the broth. This recipe uses a classic dashi broth made with kombu and bonito flake, then adds mirin, light soy, sugar, and white miso paste for body. Nice flavor. We topped it with a grilled shrimp and bok choy, since it's what we had on hand. We also cut some of the kombu up and added it to the broth. We'd make it again.
