Notes about Recipes in this book

  • French toast for two

    • babsiscookingnow on January 30, 2021

This made 6 pieces, but I used store bought white wheat bread, so it may have been thinner than the recipe called for. Other than that, it was prepared exactly as instructed. My biggest problem with this recipe was how sweet it was! Way too much sugar, especially if you have a family that is going to cover it in syrup.

    • mariah_ceezj6 on April 14, 2026

Too heavy on milk for my taste, but the recipe was easy to read/follow for my kindergartner.

  • Monkey bread

    • Jviney on August 08, 2023

“It was delicious. Everyone in my family loved it.” - my 9-year-old We made the pizza dough and refrigerated overnight, then got up at 5:45 to assemble. Recipe worked perfectly and he was so proud of himself. Sweet.

  • Real lemonade

    • oddspongeout on June 04, 2026

I subbed sugar free sweetener and it was STILL the best lemonade I have EVER had. Unreal how delicious this was.

  • Sweet iced tea

    • Jviney on April 08, 2022

Super approachable recipe for a child. My son loved making this for my husband and me, and because decaf tea is used, the kids could enjoy it too. We used Republic of Tea Vanilla Almond and it was really good, not too sweet.

  • Crispy veggie burgers

    • rrackles on July 22, 2022

Reduced the curry powder. Kids enjoyed it.

  • Pesto turkey meatballs with marinara sauce

    • nicole_mwyopi on May 21, 2026

Super simple and tasty. I was surprised how fast this came together. My meatball lover was not disappointed.

  • Crispy oven-fried chicken

    • MmeFleiss on December 05, 2025

My son made this over a year ago and he still talks about wanting to make it again.

    • nicole_mwyopi on May 21, 2026

These were delicious! Kids gobbled them up and asked for more

  • Beef and broccoli stir-fry

  • Garlicky skillet green beans

    • Jviney on April 05, 2022

My eight-year-old son was gifted this cookbook for his birthday and chose this recipe to make first. It was really approachable for him, fun to watch him learn and work at it. I think cooking the green beans himself gave him a much better appreciation for them too. And, a basic recipe, but they were very good!

  • Chocolate sheet cake

    • Jviney on February 06, 2023

This was good! My son made it on a “sick” day (he was fine) and it stayed moist and delicious for the week it took him and his brother to eat it. We topped it with the milk chocolate frosting from this cookbook and it was a good baking experience for him.

    • MollyB on July 11, 2023

Very good basic chocolate cake. My 12-year old was inspired by the Junior Bake Off and this was a good first baking experience for him on his own! Simple enough for it to be a success, but involved enough for him to feel like he accomplished something. The milk chocolate frosting was a good pairing (but be warned that it is very sweet!)

  • Fudgy chocolate mug cakes

    • swiand on January 07, 2025

My daughter loves to make this especially on a snowy day off from school with lots of sledding.

  • Milk chocolate frosting

    • MollyB on July 11, 2023

Good basic frosting. It was a little too sweet for my taste, but my son made it himself and loved it on the book's Chocolate Sheet Cake.
