Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Big breakfast cookies

    • trudys_person on January 17, 2026

These were delicious and easy to make. The only time-consuming part was measuring all the ingredients, but this is quite forgiving--lots of room for substitutions in flours, seeds and nuts. Less sweet than your average cookie. Is that what makes them breakfast cookies? I used golf ball-sized balls of dough, baked them for 15 minutes, and the recipe made 35 cookies.

  • Grandma Woodall's oatmeal marmalade crisps

    • hbakke on January 22, 2023

Nice thin and crispy cookies. They spread into each other in the oven, so I would leave more space next time. I subbed dried cranberries for raisins and added the optional pecans. I would make these again.

  • Ramone's bones (for dogs!)

    • hbakke on January 20, 2023

I've had mixed results in the past making dog treats, but these were perfect. I used the only cookie cutter I have...a weird flower/snowflake thing, not that dogs cared that they weren't bone shaped. The dogs loved these crunchy treats. They were peanutty and very slightly sweet from the honey. These are a repeat for the dogs.

Publishers Text

Cookies I Have Loved is a compilation of Julie's most well-used cookie recipes —a collection that includes best-sellers from the cookie bakery she opened in the nineties, recipes inherited from friends and relatives, and favourites she came to love over the years.

It's the second edition in a series of small format, single subject cookbooks that focus on versatile, unfussy recipes that are easily adapted to suit personal tastes, cooking styles and the seasons.
