Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Japanese egg sando

    • angela_woef21 on May 20, 2026

Yum! Had rolls, so used those instead of white bread. 1tbs dried chives instead of fresh

  • Cavatelli with roasted cherry tomatoes & pistachios

    • murphyfrank on February 17, 2026

My supermarket didn't sell semolina so I used dried pasta. A delicious way to use cherry tomatoes. One weekend I will make the cavatelli

  • Sarah's tuna & bean summer salad

    • Lepa on August 05, 2022

This is a fresh and delicious version of bean and tuna salad. It's perfect for a warm summer day when you don't feel like cooking. I soaked the shallots briefly in the vinaigrette to soften their taste.

    • murphyfrank on February 16, 2026

Julia gives us permission to mix this up so as per her suggestion I added capers and olives. I also had a bit of red capsicum in the fridge, an avocado & a couple of boiled eggs. A 36c day in Melbourne so this recipe was perfect

  • Sausage, cannellini bean & cavolo nero soup

  • Chicory & anchovy

    • Lepa on March 15, 2023

I love anchovies but this was a bit much even for me. I may try it again with 2-3 anchovies instead of 8!

  • Blackberry & yoghurt loaf cake

    • Lepa on August 24, 2022

This cake tasted delicious. I am a sucker for anything that tastes of cardamom. The cake was a bit undercooked in the middle at 55 minutes but browning on top. It probably could use a bit more time next time.

Publishers Text

Slow Sundays are for herbed roast chicken and silky smooth panna cotta. Eating outside means cheddar scones and fresh, spring salads. Friends coming by for afternoon coffee calls for a simple blackberry yoghurt loaf or comforting ginger cake with cream cheese frosting.

Beloved home cook Julia Busuttil Nishimura always knows the right dish for the occasion, weather or time of day. She also understands the power food has to bring people together, whether that's to prepare a meal or enjoy the delicious results.

With recipes ranging from quick, flavourful meals for busy weeknights to simple indulgences for summer feasts, Around the Table perfectly matches dishes to time and place. It includes recipes laden with personal meaning - Mediterranean classics from Italy and Malta, and Japanese dishes Julia has learned from her husband, Nori - that will soon become favourites around your table, too.
