Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Smoked prime rib sandwiches with green chile queso

    • Partyof7 on October 17, 2025

Very tasty. Served on a baguette. I imagine you can get great results with any leftover roasted beef. Loved it

  • Parsley pesto (Pesto di prezzemolo)

    • Kinhawaii on June 04, 2023

Good- to use up a lot of parsley we had.

  • Chicken thighs with fresh figs

    • Rinshin on September 20, 2023

Excellent recipe for those with ready supply of fresh figs. The mildly sweet/sour sauce from honey and balsamic vinegar with chicken/white wine base was perfect for figs, shallots, garlic, thyme, and chicken. The stovetop followed by oven method produced crispy skin. Will be repeating when figs are in season. Photo added.

I made this with two 1-lb split chicken breasts. Cooked through in about 40 mins, after the browning. There was barely any fat in the pan so I added evoo. The sauce was silky and luscious. I wished there was more of it, but it was adequate for the amount of chicken I had. Salt it generously. Very lovely dish, but it’s not really a flavor bomb. I will make it again.

  • Blueberry cream pie

    • anya_sf on July 26, 2022

I made 1/2 recipe in an 8" shallow pie plate, which worked, albeit with thinner layers. The pie was easy to make and absolutely delicious, with similar flavors to blueberry cheesecake, but lighter. Will definitely make again!

Mmmmm. Such a delicious and easy pie! Everyone loved it except the son who dislikes cream cheese in most everything! I tried to sneak it by him, but he tasted it immediately. Makes more than enough crust for a deep dish plate.

  • Chocolaty tiramisu

    • bwhip on October 30, 2022

Delightful, and remarkable easy to put together. I did use the optional orange zest, and I really liked the way it enhanced the flavor profile.

  • One-pot lamb meatballs with eggplant and chickpeas

    • Partyof7 on October 11, 2025

Pretty easy preparation. Made it with local Bucks Co PA lamb. Delicious outcome. Out of couscous, so made quick polenta, and liked the substitution! I envision the leftover sauce with fried eggs. Yummm

    • Partyof7 on October 17, 2025

Served leftover sauce with fried eggs and a drizzle of Calabrian chili oil to rave reviews!

Cook's Country showcases "country cooking": simple, great-tasting homemade food--Sunday dinners, potluck suppers, backyard barbecues, and even kids' birthday parties. And you can be sure that Cook's Country's recipes will come out right the first time, and every time, you go in the kitchen. We've taken the obsessive recipe development techniques that we've polished through years at America's Test Kitchen (which involve testing and tweaking recipes as many as 100 times until we are certain that anyone who follows them will meet with success) and brought them to Cook's Country. Cook's Country's mission is to reclaim, revive, and restore classic American heirloom recipes.
