Notes about Recipes in this book

  • Marinated red onions

    • Jviney on January 15, 2020

These do add a lot of flavor to various dishes. The instructions say to slice thinly and I would add to that as thinly as possible without shaving. One recipe does not make many so don’t get enthusiastic with the slicing quantity. :)

    • hlange on August 22, 2023

They're great and so nice to have on hand. Can be added to many different dishes.

    • Liz_Young on November 05, 2023

Delicious on our pork tenderloin sandwiches

  • Pistachio pesto

    • Jviney on January 15, 2020

This is lovely. I haven’t tried it in any dishes yet, but ate with raw veggies for lunch and I did not miss the cheese!

    • mpo on September 21, 2022

This is delicious - I put it on chicken, like her recipe in the book, and potatoes. You don’t miss the cheese!

  • Lemon Caesar dressing

    • claire_txa051 on March 09, 2026

Easy, VERY bright. 4yo said “it’s a little spicy!” Watch salt content.

  • Creamy horseradish dressing

    • mamacrumbcake on March 12, 2020

Really nice horseradish dressing. The horseradish was not as potent as I expected—and I used a full half cup. I eat it with so many things: beef, smoked salmon, hard boiled eggs...delicious and satisfying way to not feel deprived on Whole30.

  • Zesty garlic-tahini dressing

    • mamacrumbcake on March 12, 2020

Yummy! Great on salad, as a dip, or even on sandwiches (if you’re not Whole30). I made this to go with the chicken shawarma from this book and it was excellent.

  • Spicy almond sauce

    • julesamomof2 on October 01, 2020

This was a lot of work, plus I had to pull out my blender. The almond butter made the dressing a bit gritty/nubby. Not a repeat.

  • Zucchini pie

    • julesamomof2 on October 01, 2020

We liked this quite bit as a low carb breakfast. I followed the recipe, except I couldn't help but add some shredded mozzarella to one half the pan. I didn't think the tomato confit added much more beyond just regular cherry tomatoes. I would skip that next time as it was a pain and make a lot more confit then needed for this recipe.

  • Chicken finger salad with grapefruit-lime vinaigrette

    • Jviney on January 15, 2020

I may never look for another chicken tenders recipe. These were stellar.

  • Chicken shawarma salad with zesty garlic-tahini dressing

    • mamacrumbcake on March 12, 2020

Beautiful and delicious salad. All the components go well together. Easy enough for a weeknight, but pretty enough for company. The chicken shawarma is so good and if you’re not on a restricted diet, it would be great with rice or wrapped in a pita.

  • Steak lemon Caesar

    • claire_txa051 on March 09, 2026

Snap peas felt out of place but potato croutons were yummy in the creamy lemon dressing

  • Roy's chicken and cheddar potato stack

    • tlight on January 13, 2022

This is one recipe that I repeat often (and I don't repeat often). Son & partner both love it. It's got a scalloped-potato feel to it, so def. a comfort food. The recipe states it serves 4, but they would be rather tiny helpings. Be sure to double it if you have more than 3 zesty eaters.

  • Chicken paillard with pancetta, apples, pecans, and crispy kale

    • Jviney on January 13, 2022

I liked the idea of this and perhaps my issue with it is the due to personal preference. The sautéed kale did not crisp up for me - maybe I would roast it next time, as I was pretty excited about crispy kale. Loved the rest of the flavors. For ease, I used Tessa Mae’s ranch in place of her recipe.

    • cookingbychapter on April 09, 2026

This was ok. Probably won't make again, but it made a decent meal.

  • Mediterranean chicken artichoke stew

    • claire_txa051 on February 11, 2026

I upped my stock bc I had more chicken but ended up soupier than need be. Keep your amounts if you encounter the same! Otherwise delicious and popular with the kids.

  • Fajita steak platter with avocado crema and smoky red pepper sauce

    • hlange on August 22, 2023

The end product, when still in the pan, was very oily, but otherwise these made for absolutely delicious fajitas.

  • Lucy's favorite potato pancakes

    • claire_txa051 on February 09, 2026

These felt more “fritter” than potato pancakes, but would be great with a slew of different veg.

  • Caramelly poached pears

    • mamacrumbcake on March 12, 2020

These are delicious! My husband said it tasted like apple pie. These pears are very versatile—eat them with breakfast, for snacks, or as a side dish at dinner. (With ice cream, but that wouldn’t be Whole30). I was only able to fit 5 pears in my largest skillet and I had to use Anjou because I didn’t have Bartlett. Nevertheless, very easy and yummy. It did take longer than the recipe stated to reduce the apple juice.

  • Zucchini ribbons with ginger marinade

    • AndieEats on April 21, 2021

Really disliked this dish. We love zucchini, but the marinade was simply overwhelmingly sour in a way that ruined it for us.

  • Green beans almondine

    • Jviney on January 24, 2020

These were excellent - one of my favorite green bean preparations. Quick and easy, very good.
